Another fantastic week, lovely weather for most of it. Three days walking in the mountains, Devils Bridge train, butterfly house, watching hares play on the cottage lawn, swimming in the river - there's so much to do that a week is never enough. Thank-you for your hospitality Mary and James.

Our highly anticipated week away to the Elan Valley. My Mum saw this place last year driving past and booked it for us all to come enjoy. Wonderful sunny weather. x2 BBQs while the children made stick rafts to float in the stream. Day trips out in the car, on bikes, boat ride and the train. So much fun! So much to explore. Kids loved blackberry picking and making bottle rockets at the Visitor Centre. Thank you for the warm welcome. We take home great memories. Lara & Steve James with Adam (6) and Abbie (4) and our dog Sparkle.

Once again we enjoyed a superb holiday and excellent hospitality despite the weather of the last two weeks. There is always something to do and places to go to whatever the weather. Thank-you Mary for your company and hospitality, that, once again, made our holiday. See you some time next year.

A unique experience, peace and quiet in a natural environment. Watch out for the woodpeckers, Green and Spotted, in the large tree adjacent to the stream. They like monkey nuts (in shell). The friendly bat detached itself from my canvas bag today after warming up in the sun.

Another fantastic New Year spent at Esgair Wen. Relaxing days, lovely walks, and only one rainy day!. The children enjoyed spending time outside on mountain bikes or otherwise. Thank-you to Mrs Raw, James, Clare and James for everything. You always go out of your way to help in that little extra way. It was lovely to catch up as always over a cuppa. Happy 2015.

We had a wonderful stay at Esgair Wen - A lovely, clean property with amazing views and adorable sheep! Thank you to Mary who made us feel right at home. Her information about the local area was very helpful and helped us plan what we would do. The hydroelectric scheme is very interesting and very well done - It was nice seeing plans of how the scheme was developed. Thank you again! We enjoyed our stay very, very much.

Birds in abundance by the time we arrived. The bank voles at the rear of the cottage come and feed on the bread crumbs we put on the wall outside the kitchen window, hours of enjoyment! Tree sparrows on the rear bird feeder (these birds are now very rare).
Weather was sunny and hot most days, hardly any wind and rain on one day only. The gather from the hillsides of the sheep was as ever very entertaining, we love watching it. Not gone far this time, just been enjoying the birds, sunshine and quiet.
It was lovely seeing everyone again and to see all the changes especially the new hydro electric scheme. We had a lovely walk along the old leat now the work is finished.
Thank you Mary and Family for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Beautiful house, Picturesque location. Spent a very relaxing week travelling around the area and into Aberystwyth and Borth. Took the train from Devils Bridge which was a lovely journey and visited the waterfalls on the way back. Mary was lovely explaining all about the area and very helpful with suggestions on what to do. The house is a bit more remote than we are used to but with such a beautiful surroundings this didn't matter. had a lovely time. Highly recommended if you just need to wind down.

We travelled from Shropshire to celebrate our daughters graduation from Aber Uni and staying at Esgair Wen just put the icing on the cake! We have enjoyed our 5 days immensely and have had the luck of constant sunshine. Thank you once again to Mary for her hospitality when we accidentally arrived at her home address! We shall certainly return to the cottage if staying in the area again.

We also came to celebrate a graduation, our son’s on the 12th July (and my birthday) and what a wonderful gem we found. Esgair Wen is amazing. We have a saying in Yorkshire that its ‘Gods own country’ well after a visit here I’m guessing there may just be another one. We will be back for longer next time.

Once again we were treated to a very relaxed 3 weeks. This year the weather was very kind which added to our enjoyment of the holiday. As usual we were joined by son, daughter in law and grandson. The work carried out on the hydro-electric scheme was of particular interest and should benefit us all for the future. Last but not least we should thank Mary for the hospitality and the excellent evenings and lunch. This was probably one of the best holidays we have had and will be back for more at the same time next year
